I’ve come to a crossroads in my spiritual practice after
reading Eckhart Tolle’s The Power of Now and
A New Earth. These readings have had such an impact on me
that I need to re-evaluate what I have learned thus far on the Toltec
path. What Tolle is trying to impart is
the foundation for all spiritual teachings including Toltecism. Only when you can be truly present and fully
aware can you grasp and use the techniques of the Toltecs. Most of what Don Juan was trying to impart
has its roots in this simple teaching.
The various exercises, techniques, situations, and practices that Carlos
experienced were all means to this end – accessing the power of now. Other ways of saying the same thing in Toltec
terms are: Stopping the World, Seeing, Intent,
Will, Losing Self-importance, erasing personal history, quieting your inner
thoughts, listening to the Spirit, tracking, gazing, using Death as an advisor,
living the life of a warrior, being impeccable, being in the second attention,
burning with the fire from within, the Totality of the Self, the loss of the
form, manipulation of the energy body/ assemblage point, and perhaps even
more. ALL of these ideas, concepts, and
practices are the same thing or at least they are so deeply entrenched within
total presence or ‘the power of now’ that they merge and become simply facets
of Being.
So, in light of this discovery I have decided to put this
meetup on hold for now. Once I have a
better grasp or have more fully accepted/ integrated this new truth, I will
assess my place within the Toltec path and determine whether I can still assist
others on this path. If you are
